Villa Lions served a stern warning as they whipped champions Young Warriors 4-0 while Empire rebounded to defeat newcomers Wadadli Events Services Swetes 1-0 in the Under 17 Youth Cup of the Warriors Cup 2011 at the John Hughes Playing Field on Wednesday.
Villa’s Jamal Semper, Adrian Constant and Kevon Bailey got their names on the score-sheet while Young Warriors contributed to their misery by conceding an own goal.
Empire rebounded from their 7-0 loss to Parham on Sunday with a hard-fought 1-0 win against home side Swetes in the first match of the double-header.
Forward Leeandre Nicholas, who sustained an ankle injury in the process which required hospital treatment, flicked home Empire’s winner in the dying stages of the 44-minute game.
Parham heads the U17 table on goal difference as they have three points like Villa Lions and Empire, who have played two matches.
In the U13 age group, Empire beat Young Warriors 5-0 with goals from Demetre Farrell, Charmane Daley, Jermel Samuel, Twadedre Jacobs and Jayvaughn Joseph.
Joseph took his tally of goals to five in the competition so far when he hit a double strike while Farrell scored his second of the day as Empire overcame a plucky Villa Lions B 3-1 in another game.
Empire leads the U13 standings with a maximum 12 points from four matches.
