ANTIGUA BARRACUDA FC TO FEATURE LIVE ON FOX SOCCER CHANNEL Wednesday 29th June 2011
Antigua Barracuda FC will make their Fox Soccer Channel debut on Friday night against FC New York in the USL Game of the Week. The clash will take place at Belson Stadium at 8pm.
The live, nationally televised game will also be available to viewers in Antigua and Barbuda.
“This is a big moment for us”, Chairman of Barracuda FC Gordon ‘Banks’ Derrick said. “It fits right into our plan to expose our players and our country. We are being rewarded for our strong efforts this season and we hope to build on this in years to come”.
The team will look to rebound from a two game losing streak but is buoyed by the fact that it has a better away record than the one at home. The USL Fox Game of the Week will also see the return of key players, suspended from the recent home matches.
Team Captain George Dublin said, “I can’t wait to get back out there as I am not very good at watching from the side lines. We will be a better team in the upcoming games as we seek to restore our position in the table and secure our playoff spot.”
Influential midfielder Quinton Griffith will also be back for the game which should see the team at full strength.
“We have no injury worries, injected some new blood and we expect to give it our all in New York and Pittsburgh, Head Coach Tom Curtis said, coupled with the positives from the two home games, we will be looking to take all the points on the road and restore some belief in our team. Going live across the US and here at home should be enough motivation for the boys to really do the business,” he stated.
The team leaves for the two game road trip today. Click here for all News and Specials for Sports, Trade, Industry and Commerce & Culture
