STATUS ON THE CONSULTATIONS WITH SPORTS STAKEHOLDERS ON COMMUNITY BASED MANAGEMENT OF PUBLIC SPORTS VENUES. Monday 11th October 2010
We would wish to express sincerest appreciation to you for your willingness to participate in consultations held over the last few months on the concept of the community based management of public sports facilities. Your comments, questions and suggestions have provided a wealth of knowledge to guide and formulate the submission made to the Honourable Members of Cabinet of Antigua and Barbuda, through the Minister of Education, Sports, Youth and Gender Affairs.
We would particularly wish to commend the Johnston's, Sutherlands and Clare Hall Stadium Management Association (JSC SMA) who offered to serve as the pilot for the concept. We are grateful for the contribution if the Executive and member clubs to sports and by extension national development through this initiative. We will continue to work with you to strengthen and monitor the process. The A/B Domino Association, Uprising Boxing Gym, A&B Boxing Association, A&B Softball Cricket Association, A&B Volleyball Association, A&B Netball Association, ASTECS, Rangers Football Club, the Bolans Sports Management Organization, Lower Ottos Community, A&B Football Association, A&B Athletic Association and its member clubs, and many others for the interest expressed to date in this venture.
Just recently we received feedback from the Cabinet on the initiative and are pleased to advise that there has been agreement in principle with the concept. However, the details are to be addressed more specifically through the work of a three person committee appointed by the Cabinet. We anticipate a speedy report on their recommendations for the way forward. We will be sure to keep you advised on progress.
For those organizations which are awaiting final word on the draft MOU's which we have developed in collaboration with each other, please exercise some more patience as we await the formal word from the policy level.
