FUTURE KINGS WIN U13S, HOPPERS INTO SEMIS

Future Kings of Pigotts have been crowned Under 13 champions while Premier Division side Hoppers moved into the semi-final in the Open Championship of the sixth annual Warriors Cup sponsored by sponsored by Harney Motors, Cool & Smooth, APUA PCS INET, Snickers and M&M.

The Kerry Skepple-coached side won their age group by winning their last two matches of the five-team competition with a 2-0 success over host Young Warriors on Friday before overcoming Villa Lions 4-0 on Saturday at YASCO.

Ltrover Dorsette, Walsworth Burton, Denny Henry and Roshawn Gload netted in the win against Villa while Lyndon Thwaites and Dequante Mellanson scored against Warriors.
Future Kings ended with the maximum 12 points to leave their rivals to battle it out for the runners-up position.

In other U13 results, Wings won their third match, defeating Warriors 3-1 with goals from Shae Walsh, two, and Shaquan Williams after Rashawn Henry had given the hosts the lead.
Willikes added to Warriors misery with a 4-2 win as Zhane Goodwin, Davide Martin, Tariq Baltimore and Jerema Ramsey found the net while Trevor Samuel and Noah McDonald scored for the losers.
However, Warriors restored some pride in the Under 17 division with a 10-0 win over Ovals.

A hat-trick by Carlos Tittle and double strikes from national Under 17 players, Romario Brathwaite and Elijah McDonald plus one each from Brian Abbott, Jahmal Reynolds, Trevorn Samuel spurred Warriors to their third straight win and a share of the lead with Empire but Warriors have a superior goal difference.

The Grays Farm side, coached by George ‘Cajawawa’ Warner, finished their campaign on nine points after defeating Willikies 3-0 after Darren Warner, Akeem George and Eugene Kirwan scored after half-time.

Willikies enjoyed a 3-1 over Ovals the previous day thanks to a brace of goals from Jakool Aaron and one from Novelle Francis Jr. Nigel Graham scored a late consolation for Ovals who were beaten for the third time.

In the Open Championship, Hoppers came from a goal down to defeat Villa 3-1 on Friday night after Michael Roberts has given the Lions the lead from the penalty spot.
Two minutes after going behind, Jari Jackson equalised for the Greenbay side before Kevin James and Kareem Wilson netted in the 60th and 65th minutes to complete the win which sent Hoppers to the top of the standings in Group A with seven points like Warriors but a better goal difference.
On Thursday, Goldsmitty, who lead with six points, and Bullets, who are joint level on four points with Guyadadli, will meet to determine the other qualifier from Group B at 6pm at YASCO.

In the female contest, 5Ps underlined their prowess with a 4-1 win over Ottos Tigress. Bedu Bailey, Melissa Fletcher, Jessica Hall and Kai Jacobs were on target for 5Ps while Heidi Thomas netted a late goal from Tigress.

St Maarten’s C& D Connection lost both their matches in the International Warriors Cup goodwill tournament, beaten 2-1 by Goldsmitty on Saturday and 2-0 by Young Warriors the previous night.
Darren Steven equalised for Goldsmitty who had fallen behind to Kevin Hajare 29th-minute penalty before Alva Samuel scored the clincher.

Elijah McDonald and Romario Brathwaite secured Warriors win with goals in either half.
Sunday’s matches were postponed because the passage of Hurricane Earl and will be rescheduled later this week.

The Warriors Cup will conclude this Saturday with the semi-finals and finals on Sunday at the Antigua Recreation Ground.
