AWARD TO TALISKER WHISKY ATLANTIC CHALLENGE CARSTEN OLSEN
Tuesday 31st January 2023

Organizer of the World’s Toughest Row, The Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge. Carsten Olsen, was presented with the Faithful and Meritorious Award by Governor General Sir Rodney Williams.

Having bought the race in 2012, after his brother participated in the 2009/2010 race, Carsten quickly fell in love with both the race and Antigua and Barbuda. Teams from around the globe compete in the challenge arriving in Nelson’s dockyard to cheers and support from  International media, tourists, Antiguans, families, who are there to greet them. The race is attracting increasing numbers of  teams and  is actually sold out in 2023 and 2024, bringing Antigua once again on to the world stage.

It has proved so popular that in June 2023  there will be a new challenge across  the Pacific,  from California to Hawaii. This will open up the US market and the interest for the race but also to create awareness of four destinations. La Gomera, Antigua, California and Hawaii. Something that should be beneficial for all parties involved. The US market has a huge potential so the goal is to see more Americans doing the Atlantic as well in the future. Antigua’s own Island Girls will be one of the first teams to tackle this new challenge.
