Back to World's Toughest Row

CONGRATULATIONS TO OCEANCATS
Friday 13th January 2023

OceanCats Atlantic Rowing have crossed the finish line with a time of 31 days, 17 hours and 9 minutes! Today on Friday 13th January, at 01:01 local Antiguan time, Joaquim Planells, Juan Bautista Romero, Sergi Franch and Martí Ramírez became the first ever Spanish team to win The Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge - The World’s Toughest Row!

The atmosphere was electric as they reached the end of their momentous journey and raised their flares high in the air. When they stepped on land for the first time in 31 days there were tears as they reunited with their family and friends. They lifted the well-deserved MacAskill trophy and received the prize of £15,000 Bremont Watches.

This team of four has been in the group of front runners since they set off from La Gomera on 12th December. By Day 19 they had secured the lead and held their position until the end. They had more than their share of challenges. Their centreboard broke in half during high winds and rough seas. To regain full control of the boat in choppy conditions they had to continue with one of the team rowing and another stabilising the boat!

The team has rowed to raise awareness for Surfrider Foundation Europe!

Their tenacity, dedication and hard work has inspired us all. Join us in saying a huge congratulations. Their tenacity, dedication and hard work has inspired us all. Join us in saying a huge congratulations to our #TWAC2022 Overall & Race Class Winners
