PROTOCOLS FOR TEAM ANTIGUA PAIRS TWAC ARRIVAL Thursday 21st January 2021
The following protocols discussed with National Parks, Dockyard Security, Atlantic Campaigns (AC), and the immediate families of the rowers will apply for the arrival of Team Pairs Antigua (TAPs) at the Dockyard, estimated to be near the end of January.
The Covid situation is fluid and these protocols are subject to alterations as needed. A nighttime arrival during curfew will also cause reviews.
It is the wish of the families and rowers of the Antiguan pair to inform the incredibly supportive public soonest about these protocols so that we can be prepared and use every effort to preserve this event’s finale as a positive experience for all. It is important to realize that the rowers’ immunity systems will be fragile. We must be conscious also to respect the AC crews’ need to stay healthy to welcome the other rowers yet to arrive, and for all of us to act responsibly for the preservation of the national health and safety of all.
With that said, we strongly encourage and advise all to view, support, and celebrate the arrival of Team Pairs Antigua as a virtual event. ABS TV/Radio will be on site to broadcast the event live. Atlantic Campaigns will broadcast on Facebook live as they do all arrivals.
There will be no speeches, no food or drink vending, no music, no entertainment.
The Dockyard area will be restricted. Each family is permitted 30 spots inside the Dockyard. These individuals will be issued official passes. All entrants must always wear a mask, bring a sanitizer, and use it. Social distancing must be observed.
No one is to touch the rowers except 2 members of Atlantic Campaigns on dockside who have tested negative for Covid prior to arrival of TAPs. The rowers will be assisted off the boat by these 2 AC members to a small, isolated platform for AC greetings, presentation, and interview at dockside. No microphones/sound system will be used except by ABS and AC. No gift or other items must be handed to the rowers by anyone else outside of AC.
Then the rowers will be escorted to an area in a nearby building to have a medical check and served a meal. No one can accompany them except AC crew and one member of each family. This will not be recorded.
The rowers will then be turned over to their immediate families in the grassy areas between Copper & Lumber and seaside. There will be no hugging, no handshakes.
Any boats viewing the arrival must comply with already established protocols. Further, no one from these boats can disembark in the Dockyard. Boats must not go near the rowboat at any time and must ensure enough space for the media boat to be able to circle it quickly and safely. Boat passengers are asked not to broadcast live videos via social media at the mouth of the habour so as not to overwhelm the AC antenna placed there for the official arrival live broadcast.
No drone is permitted in the marina of the Dockyard. Only two drones will be permitted to fly at the mouth of or outside the harbour (AC, and Roddy Graemes Graham-AquaFilms).
We will ask for the help of the Police and the Coastguard for their valuable assistance. Let us end this incredibly positive event well. Much thanks and appreciation for your most precious support.
