Here we go! Get your flags ready, grab a t-shirt, and set your plans to get to Nelson’s Dockyard on Monday to welcome home our Team Antigua Island Girls. The crowd is expected to be huge for their arrival, both on the water and in Nelson’s Dockyard, so please adhere to the following rules:
Traffic Rules:
There will be traffic diversions and a Park and Ride system setup. Follow all instructions given by authorities. Head out early if possible to arrive on time.
Boating rules:
If you are heading out on a vessel to greet the girls on the water, YOU MUST adhere to these rules to avoid disqualification of the team:
- You MUST NOT come within 20m/65ft of the rowing boats, disturb their track with wake, or throw/pass things to the team before they cross the finish line.
- You must keep clear of the ABSAR Rib at all times, as well as the finish line, located at the mouth of English Harbour.
- Watch from a distance and allow the team to cross the finish line safely, accompanied by the ABSAR Rib.
- Tune to VHF Channel 16 for braodcasts from ABSAR and the Coast Guard.
Also note: the official notice to mariners for this event from the Antigua & Barbuda Defense Force Coast Guard.
Once In Nelson’s Dockyard, take note of the barriers for families and restricted areas for press and dignitaries. Get there early to secure a good viewing spot! There is a strict 'no drone' policy in place in Nelson's Dockyard for crowd safety.
