ONE WEEK TO TWAC START Tuesday 4th December 2018
There’s just over one week left on solid ground for the rowers participating in the 2018 Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge, scheduled to start on 12th December. All teams, including our own Team Antigua Island Girls, are in La Gomera, Canary Islands, packing and re-packing their boats, having inspections done, and making final preparations before they each hit the seas for the world’s toughest row.
Team Antigua Island Girls have passed their inspection, completed this week, and final preparations are underway. In the week before the start, they will have the chance to get out on the water in their boat and test all the systems, and will attend a number of meetings, social events, and safety briefings.
Once all goes to schedule and weather permits, the 2018 Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge will start on Wednesday 12th December, with the starting time to be announced. The start will be streamed live from the Atlantic Campaigns Facebook Page.
Once the fleet leaves team-by-team, the race website will convert to a tracker, and the tracker on the YB Races App will go live. For tracking on your phone, download the YB Races App and select Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge.
On 12th December, join in the Team Antigua Island Girls in spirit (and in aid) at the Rowing Machine Challenge, hosted by the ABMA to raise funds for the team. Get a feel for what the team are dealing with on the rowing machines on the lawn of the Antigua Yacht Club, and take on rowing for 15 minutes, 30 minutes, or an hour!
Follow updates from the Team Antigua Island Girls on their Facebook Page, and get all race updates from the Atlantic Campaigns Facebook Page. Donate to the charity the team is rowing for – the Cottage of Hope.
