TEAM ANTIGUA ISLAND GIRLS IN ENGLAND Friday 9th November 2018
The Team Antigua Island Girls are closer to the start line now, having left Antigua on 30th October for England, with a spectacular send-off with friends, family, and dignitaries. Crossing the Atlantic on a one-way ticket, the team have just about a month to prepare before they row back across the Atlantic, with the crews of 2019 Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge.
After landing in England, it was straight to work, reuniting with their boat Jean Mary, and meeting with Angus Collins and Charlie Pitcher of boatmakers Rannoch Adventures, who are outfitting their boat for the row. Another key piece of training the team has completed is “water-making 101”, which is troubleshooting one of the most important machines on the boat, the water maker.
Along with taking in the sites, the team has met a number of the TWAC2018 teams, and recently got back on the water with their boat for training on the Crouch River – a stark difference to their tropical training grounds here!
Keep an eye of the team as the countdown to the start intensifies by following their Facebook page. During the row, the team will raise funds for the Cottage of Hope. DONATE online through their website.
