TEAM ANTIGUA ARRIVAL AND THE LATEST ON THE TWAC 2017 Tuesday 23rd January 2018
Team Antigua after crossing the finish line. By Ben Duffy / Atlantic Campaigns.
Nelson’s Dockyard has been seeing lots of action since the record-breaking arrival of The Four Oarsmen on 12th January, first arrivers in the 2017 Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge. Following just 12 hours later, a huge crowd gathered to welcome our own Team Antigua in 2nd place on 13th January.
If you missed it, check out full coverage of the arrival from ABS Television and from race organizers Atlantic Campaigns. We’re sending huge congratulations to Eli Fuller, Nico Psihoyos, John Watt and Scott Potter on this incredible achievement for Antigua & Barbuda!
Records have been smashed and new records made in almost every arrival so far in the challenge, with this year being the fastest crossing with some of the most notable individuals participating. A crowd favourite was solo Mark Slats who floored us all with his record breaking row, arriving 4th in the fleet!
The arrivals so far have been: The Four Oarsmen, Team Antigua, Swiss Mocean, Row 4 Cancer (Mark Slats), Home to Portrush, Relentless, Kung Fu Cha Cha, Rowegians, Row 2 Recovery, Oardinary Boys, Wight Lightning, Atlantic 4, and Saddle Sand Sea.
With 9 teams still at sea, we’re yet to welcome a few more ocean rowers and even yet to see new records made – the next arrival is set to be Team Homeward Bound with 19-year-old solo rower Oliver Crane, setting a new record for youngest person to row the Atlantic.
Stay tuned to the Atlantic Campaigns Facebook page for live coverage of the arrivals and all race updates. Track the fleet here.
