RORC’S JOHN BURNIE SHARES HIS RECENT TRIP TO THE GREAT WALL OF CHINA Thursday 24th January 2013
John Burnie, Royal Ocean Racing Club (RORC) Sponsorship and Marketing Consultant, and loyal sailing friend of Antigua and Barbuda, shares with his photos of a recent trip to the Great Wall of China and the Forbidden City/Tiananmen Square where the Spirit of Mao Zedong lives on.
John’s words:
Alas the spirit of the scorpion and snake kebab I had as an appetiser also lives on – it was a truly terrible experience – I am still having nightmares and indigestion. (Long live the RORC lunch!) My only excuse is it was minus 13 degrees and I was cold and hungry. Notwithstanding the eating habits of the Chinese are exceptional – but the upside is that it leaves the city/countryside positively free from vermin and dangerous things that could bite you and kill you.
PS. Minus 15 degrees is quite a feat for Caribbean boaters!
