RORC CARIBBEAN 600 ENTRY UPDATE Monday 10th January 2011
The RORC Caribbean 600 is delighted to welcome Chris Bull’s Jazz to its 2011 event starting from English Harbour, Antigua on the 21st of February.
Jazz recently participated in a tough Rolex Sydney Hobart Race with wind and current in the Bass Strait conspiring to produce big seas and gale force winds. Jazz came through and revelled in the conditions to win IRC Zero class on corrected time. Jazz came tantalisingly close to an overall win in the 87-boat fleet, but in the end Jazz was overtaken towards the end by just over 20 minutes by Geoff Boettcher’s Reichel Pugh 51, Secret Men’s Business.
Event photographer described the conditions as the worst he had ever seen in over a decade of covering the event.
While owner Chris Bull was picking up his trophies in Hobart, Jazz was already on its way to Melbourne for shipping to the USA. After the RORC Caribbean 600 in Antigua, Jazz will contest the seven race Atlantic Ocean Racing Series by competing in the Annapolis Newport race, the Transatlantic race which starts in Newport, followed by the Rolex Fastnet, the new Biscay Race from Cowes to northern Spain and possibly ending with the Rolex Middle Sea race in October.
Jazz is but one of many similar successful boats lining up for honours at the upcoming RORC Caribbean 600 Race slated to begin in Antigua on February 21, 2011. The start and finish are wonderful spectator events so don’t miss the action!
