GENERAL INSURANCE CO LTD SAYS “INVEST IN ANTIGUA” Monday 24th December 2012
General Insurance Company Limited celebrated their 28th anniversary in October.
Managing Director, Peter Blanchard, wanted to do something, through advertising, that would be an investment in Antigua and impact the community in a meaningful way. He decided to do it with gardens. As a passionate gardener and environmentalist, Mr Blanchard, together with his daughter Kara Ann Blanchard Spencer, Operations Manager of General Insurance, decided that his company would shine the spotlight on Gardens of Antigua.
General Insurance has produced the Gardens of Antigua calendar. The calendar will be available at the General Insurance offices on Redcliffe Street as well as retail outlets and hotel gift stores. It is priced at $30 EC. All proceeds from the sale of the calendar will be donated to the restoration fund for Antigua’s botanical gardens.
The calendar showcases twelve of Antigua’s most beautiful and authentic gardens. The gardens show that whether big or small, they can have a big effect personally and on the entire community.
Through the calendar, General Insurance is supporting the Environment team at the Ministry of Agriculture as they begin to slowly restore the Botanical gardens to its former glory. Mr. Blanchard remembers the beauty of the gardens as a schoolboy. He said “The calendar is the first of several fund raising efforts we have planned to support the restoration of the gardens.
Antigua is one of the few Caribbean islands that do not have a Botanical Garden, I hope other businesses and the public will show their support and help make this happen. He added, “You can’t go wrong, when you invest in Antigua”. Click here for all News and Specials for Causes@antiguanice.com
