After a three week refurbishment, the Pineapple Grill re-opened its doors to the delight of guests and staff at Grand Pineapple Beach Resort.
The re-opening was commemorated on Tuesday, January 31 in a lavish cocktail and dinner that left invited guests wanting more. Travel agents, tour operators and members of the media were on hand as General Manager Courtney Miller explained the significance of the re-opening. "This is a very special moment for us because a lot of labour and love was invested in order to create a unique atmosphere where authentically Caribbean cuisine is matched by a wonderful ambiance and phenomenal service," commented Miller.
From mouth watering pumpkin soup that is infused with ginger and Antiguan Brandy to signature dishes like "Dreadlock Noodles," and “Supreme of Chicken Wadadli,” the culinary team at Pineapple Grill wowed the invitees.
Thanks to the mastermind of Executive Chef Anson Beason, Grand Pineapple Beach Resort has teamed up with the Antigua & Barbuda Hospital Training Institute for a culinary mentoring program that is like no other. Students at the institute have been given the opportunity to work closely with Chefs from the resort so that they can gain the theoretical knowledge and practical expertise that is required to excel in the culinary field.
The products of this unique program can be found in the kitchen at the Pineapple Grill. These young and aspiring chefs are cherishing the chance of a lifetime to work with Beason, who has 40 years of Chef Experience under his belt.
“The goal of the program is to enable youth to realize their passion for the culinary arts so that the next generation of Antiguan chefs can emerge as leaders in their own right,” said Beason. A three month internship at Grand Pineapple has enabled young Chef Joetta Smith to be employed full time. She is part a dynamic team at the Pineapple Grill which includes Harvey King, Demar Redman and Raheem Adams from the Boys Training School.
The Pineapple Grill is one of the most popular restaurants on the resort due to the vibrant environment and scrumptious cuisine. With a new look and new energy for the New Year, the formidable staff is ready to soar to new heights.
