ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA ANNOUNCES PR APPOINTMENT TO STRENGTHEN AWARENESS IN UK MARKET Monday 26th April 2010
The Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority announces the appointment of First Public Relations Limited (FPR), the leading destination specialist consultancy, tasked with raising brand awareness of Antigua and Barbuda in UK and Ireland.
The agency will leverage the tourist board’s tag line, “The beach is just the beginning” to highlight the destination’s rich cultural heritage and attractions beyond the beautiful beaches which it is known for. FPR will capitalize on the ‘A-list’ getaway status that the island enjoys, attracting celebrities including Giorgio Armani, Eric Clapton and Oprah Winfrey, who recently declared the island her favourite beach holiday spot.
FPR will report directly to Hilary Modeste, Director of Tourism, UK and Europe. Commenting on the appointment Modeste said: “We are delighted to have FPR on board. Their vast experience in the travel trade and wide connections with the media will help us to achieve our objectives and we are certainly looking forward to working with them on some exciting projects, such as our upcoming Summer Gold promotion.”
FPR will run a full service press office including media relations, brand promotions and coordination of the crisis management strategy. Social media networks will be integrated into the communications mix as the island is positioned as an aspirational yet affordable holiday choice.
Celebrating its 25th year in 2010, FPR has a successful track record promoting and establishing the reputation of quality destinations and unrivalled client retention with such notable clients such as Washington State Tourism and Greater Miami Convention and Visitor Bureau who have been with the agency for over 15 years.
The new agency is scheduled to visit the destination shortly, to meet first hand with local tourism stakeholders in its drive to build the Antigua & Barbuda brand in the UK.
