MINISTER OF TOURISM WELCOMES MASTERS TEAMS TO ANTIGUA AND PLEDGES SUPPORT FOR 2013
Thursday 15th November 2012

Antigua and Barbuda Minister of Tourism, the Hon. John Maginley praises the masters’ teams and organisers of this year’s Antigua and Barbuda International Masters 20/20 for coming through despite global fiscal challenges:

“I welcome all the teams, local and visiting players and have to say a huge thank you to the organisers and sponsors for making this year’s event possible, as events like this help us to market our twin island state.” States Minister Maginley during the welcome cocktail for the teams, officials, sponsors and media at the Pavilion on Tuesday evening.

Minister Maginley is so pleased with the event that he has pledged his support beyond this week: “I am committing early and bright for next year’s Cricket Fest and am extending an invitation to all of you to come next year. Have a good time and enjoy our hospitality.”

All the teams, event ambassadors, visiting West Indies Stars, officials and organisers will be enjoying a Wadadli Sea Cruise on Friday, November 16 and an after party at Shirley Heights, straight after the prize giving ceremony on Sunday, November 18.

Legend and event ambassador, Kenny Benjamin welcomed all the players and encouraged them to have fun and Antigua and Barbuda’s Director of Sports; Mervyn Richards also spoke during the brief Welcome ceremony.

Antigua and Barbuda’s Minister of Finance, the Hon. Harold Lovell and Michael Muirhead, the new WICB CEO were also in attendance.

The guests were serenaded by the Harmonites Steel Band with drinks supplied by Quin Farara.

Earlier in the day over 50 U15 cricketers attended day two of the special after school coaching camp, where they received hands on training and tips from past West Indies players Keith Arthurton, Hamish Anthony, Ridley Jacob and Winston Benjamin. They were assisted by local coaches Pernel Wattley, Deron Thomas, Alphonso Jarvis and Francis Mark.
