A & B TO HOST TRAVELMOLE "LEGENDS OF CRICKET" MATCH
Tuesday 16th October 2012

Cricket enthusiasts in Antigua and Barbuda will have a unique opportunity to see the results of a collaborative Sports Tourism venture undertaken by TravelMole UK, The Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority and the Ministry of Tourism Antigua and Barbuda.

The venture dubbed “The Legends of Cricket/ Antigua vs. The UK” will see approximately 15 tour operators and journalists inclusive of former professional English player Chris Schoffield, visit Antigua and Barbuda from October 20th-24th.

As a part of the familiarization trip TravelMole (which is the biggest online resource for the travel industry publishing daily alerts to all interested in world-widetravel), has targeted the niche area of sports tourism to sensitize the participants of the rich history in cricket that has become synonymous with the tourism product in Antigua and Barbuda.

The legends cricket match will take place on October 22nd at 5:30 pm at the Rising Sun Cricket Grounds and will feature legends of Antiguan Cricket such as Ridley Jacobs, Pernel Roxy Joseph, Carl Roberts, Wildin Cornwall and Frankie Francis. The Antigua team to be captained by Winston Benjamin will also see Elroy Francis, Sherman James, Cortwright Pigott, Goldin Prince, Vince Smith and Stanford James going up against the TravelMole Legends team captained by Chris Schoffield.

While in Antigua, the TravelMole Team which will be hosted at the Verandah Resort, will visit the Devil’s Bridge, the Historic Nelson’s Dockyard, The Shirley Heights Lookout and Stingray City.
Minister of Tourism the Hon. John Maginley will host the group on Tuesday October 23rd to cocktails and entertainment at Bubba’s Restaurant situated in Buckley’s Village.

According to Minister Maginley, “Antigua and Barbuda as a Caribbean tourist destination with its sporting history rich in cricket will only stand to benefit from such a partnership with TravelMole.” He continued, “ we can never pay in dollar value for the kind of exposure that the twin-island destination will receive via such an online marketing company that publishes 15 eNewsletters and broadcasts hundreds of videos to its over 450,000 travel and tourism industry professional registered members, as well as its 30 million consumers in 132 countries.”

All Antiguans and Barbudans, cricket fans and clubs alike are invited to witness the cricket match which is free of cost to rally around the Antiguan and Barbudan Legends of Cricket.
