ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA TOURISM OFFICIALS MEET AT WORLD TRAVEL MARKET TO PLAN 2010/2011 SEASON

Antigua and Barbuda will have a major presence at this year’s World Travel Market, the world’s leading travel trade exhibition being held in London from November 8 – November 11. 
 
Minister of Tourism, The Honourable John Maginley will lead a high level delegation of senior tourism officials to the event, to include, CEO of the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority, Colin James, and the UK and Europe, Director of Tourism, P. Hilary Modeste.

The Tourism Minister noted that “World Travel Market presents the perfect opportunity for Antigua and Barbuda to meet with all our key players within the UK Travel and Tourism industry and update them on new developments taking place in Antigua.”
 
“We intend to spend the next four days in strategic discussions and negotiations that will allow us to face the coming winter season and the new year with greater confidence.”

The Ministry of Tourism and the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority have scheduled a number of discussions with key stakeholders to include British Airways, Virgin Holidays, Expedia and major tour operators.
 
Resort and travel partners from Antigua and Barbuda have also made the journey to London for the event with expectations of finalising commitments with UK tour operators for the new tourism season.
 
Stand partners will include, Jolly Beach Resort and Spa, Carlisle Bay, Blue Waters Hotel, Sugar Ridge, National Tours and Services, Hermitage Bay, Cocos Hotel, Jumby Bay,Ondeck and the Antigua Hotel and Tourist Association.
 
In addition to attendance at roundtable meetings and forums this WTM, the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority will highlight its strong sports tourism offering for 2011, and will have the sports ambassadors and cricketing legends Sir Vivian Richards and Richard “Richie” Richardson present on the stand.
 
Sporting offerings to be emphasised include the world famous Antigua Sailing week, the recently opened Sir Vivian Richards Stadium that will host the inaugural Cricket fest 20/20 masters festival in November 2010 and several international matches played in 2011 as well as the launch of the brand new Richie Richardson Cricket Academy.
