THE MANGO PINEAPPLE CULINARY COMPETITION 2015 Monday 8th June 2015
Entrees for professional Savoury Chefs and Pastry chefs to enter The Mango Pineapple Culinary Competition 2015!
This is the 8th year of this competition for professional chefs featuring super varietal mangoes from Christian Valley Agricultural Station and Antigua Black Pineapples from Cades Bay Agricultural Station. Pastry Chefs, compete for the prestigious Madeleine Mc Comas Award for Best Pastry Chef, and the special Most Innovative Chef Award from students of ABHTI in this category. While Savoury Chefs compete for the prestigious Dame Gwendolyn Tonge Award for Best Chef, as well as a special Most Innovative Chef Award from students of ABHTI in this category. Awards are also offered for 2nd and 3rd place in each competition.
Potential entrants have until June 15th 2015 to register for the competition. A special Guest Chef from the USA will travel to Antigua to join other nationally acclaimed chefs and food reviewers as a judge in the competition.
The Culinary competition allows chefs in Antigua and Barbuda to show-off their cooking skills and impress the judges for the chance to claim the top chef awards. Last year’s winners were all chefs from The Carmichael Restaurant at Sugar Ridge. The competition precedes the Christian Valley Mango Festival which takes place on July 18th and 19th. The Mango Festival launched by the Antigua and Barbuda Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Agriculture to highlight the linkages between agriculture and tourism celebrates its 10 year anniversary this year.
