8TH ANNUAL MANGO FESTIVAL REPORT Tuesday 23rd July 2013
This year Antigua and Barbuda celebrated its 8th year of Mango Festival at the Christian valley agricultural station in Jennings. There were over twenty vendors ranging from food, agro processors, books, and frozen beverages all made from mangoes.
The two day event which got into full swing on Sunday with finals for the Culinary competition Mr. Gregory Williams of Sugar Ridge, in pastry Ms. Angenick Lobby of Sugar ridge Hotel, and in Bar Kason Tapper Hermitage Bay Hotel took home the 1st position. Her Excellency Dame Louise Lake Tack presented the winning trophies’ while the Hon. Minister Hilson Baptiste presented the medals to the participants.

There were twenty four different mangoes on display with all the imaginable delicacy made with mango and pineapple, from Mango Polourie to Mango Hi Cream. The festival was a great way to launch the mango season and highlight the king of fruits, the mango.

This year’s festival was under the leadership of the Ministry of Agriculture Lands Housing and the Environment with The Ministry of Tourism and assistance from Hon. Hilson N. Baptiste, Hon.
