CLASSIC YACHT REGATTA ENTRANTS Monday 21st February 2022
The Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta are so pleased to welcome Aschanti IV of Vegesack back to Antigua for our regatta having sailed here from the Pacific!
The 34.8 metre classic sailing yacht was built in Germany by Burmester in 1954 and designed by Henry Gruber. This mighty vessel is very special to them as she was instrumental in starting the regatta!
It was onboard the then named Aschanti of Saba that their late founder Kenny Coombs and his friends, Uli Pruesse and Tony Fincham, conceived the idea for the Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta!
They are looking forward to watching her race on these waters once again in under two months!
The Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta are also pleased to announce that Ticonderoga will be joining them for the regatta!
This legendary classic was designed by Herreshoff for yachtsman Harry Noyes. The 72-foot, clipper-bowed ketch was built in 1936 and has since proved to be a veritable reaching machine despite her low freeboard.
Given her celebrated history, there is lots of excitement to see her on Antiguan shores once again in just a few months time!
