LONDON 2012 OLYMPIC SAILOR TO VISIT ANTIGUA Wednesday 26th March 2014
Photo compliments of Bernardo Freitas.
Twenty-four year old Olympic sailor Bernardo Freitas from Portugal participated in the 49er class at the 2012 London Olympic Games, achieving an Olympic diploma finishing in 8th position. Bernardo was also helmsman of the AC45 catamara with the Portuguese ROFF/Cascais sailing team at the Redbull Youth America's Cup, where he finished on the podium at 3rd place at the event in San Francisco last September.
Bernardo is proud to be representing Antigua for the first time ever at the Dragon European championships in San Remo Italy, alongside Carlo Falcone and Diogo Pereira where they hope to achieve great success.
Only a week after the Dragon European Championships Bernardo will fly back to Antigua once again with some different goals, first of all to meet Shannon Falcone, America's Cup sailor and winner and further help the local young talents such as Rocco Falcone and Louis Bavay and all the other young sailors with a 10-days clinic. Bernardo will also race in Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta on Mariella, and in Aantigua Sailing Week on Caccie Alla Volpe. He will bring his moth to make some progress and provide a foiling experience for the local sailors.
Bernardo is glad to say that Antigua is one of the best places he has ever sailed, with great conditions and a wonderful environment with friendly people. He looks forward to seeing everyone soon.
