For Leinfelder Goldschmiede Munich, Diamond Sponsor of Antigua Sailing Week 2010, the last few days have been incredibly stressful as they awaited news of whether they would be able fly to Antigua in time for the start of Sailing Week. Originally booked on the once weekly Condor flight out of Germany, the Icelandic volcanic eruption left them stranded like many people across the world.
Sheer determination and a lot of hours found them flying on three separate flights from Munich to San Francisco, San Francisco to Miami, and the final leg Miami to Antigua. It shows the company's determination and commitment to attending the event and being able to benefit from the opportunities to promote their business and network in the Caribbean during the week.
Attending the volunteers' party for Antigua Sailing Week, Leinfelder joined fellow overseas sponsors Ondeck, whose UK based personnel also arrived yesterday just in time to assist in the management of the teams entering the regatta. Laura Abbey-Taylor was present representing Silver sponsor Virgin Atlantic who thankfully resumed flights to bring in Sailing Week staff and participants. Another new Gold sponsor Chivas Regal had a star bartender mixing up a fury with refreshing whisky sours made from Chivas Regal. A a small taste of what is to come at the Chivas Regal VIP bars. The Management of Pernod-Ricard USA the distributors of Chivas Regal had flown down from Florida to attend the party with their on island distributors Premier Beverages.
The party at Life Bar and Restaurant in English Harbour also played host to the race officers, overseas judges and officials, organizers and committee members, sponsors, boat crew, chase and press boat skippers and the party production crews.
