SCHOOLS ART COMPETITION AWARD CEREMONY Wednesday 27th April 2011
The design submitted by Ardis Laville of the Antigua State College was selected to serve as the signboard to welcome persons to English Harbour and will be unveiled at the beginning of 2012.
There was keen rivalry for this year’s annual Competition, sponsored by LIAT. There were about 250 entries, from a wide range of Schools. The Judges had a challenging time choosing the winners as there were so many fine entries.
The winning pictures in each of the three age group categories are on display in a room at the back of the Museum inside Nelson’s Dockyard. First, second and third place paintings will be shown, as well as several Honourable Mentions in each class. Come and enjoy the display!
All children who entered paintings in the Competition are invited to come to the Dockyard on Saturday, the 30th of April. They will be welcomed by Miss Ethelyn Philip and served refreshments at 1:00 near the Museum, compliments of Admirals’ Inn, Curtain Bluff Hotel, Geny’s in English Harbour and the Dockyard Bakery.
The Prize Giving for this Competition will take place on Saturday, the 30th of April at 2:00 pm, during the celebration of Dockyard Day at the end of Sailing Week. The winners have all been notified through their Schools, and should plan to arrive promptly at 1:00 for their refreshments, so as to be ready to go on the stage at 2:00 to receive their awards.
