HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM ASW Wednesday 3rd January 2024
Happy New Year from sunny Antigua & Barbuda. As we step into January and back to work, it's time to start planning for your trip to Antigua for Antigua Sailing Week. The local sailors and those already in Antigua have been having fun over the Christmas Season racing every Saturday, taking part in the Jolyon Byerley Series & Boxing Day Barrel Races and on New Years Eve, "Lord Nelson" made an appearance at the Nelson's Pursuit.
To help with your planning we just wanted to update you on what's happening & highlight some key aspects of preparation that can be done now in readiness for joining us for the regatta - whether as a participant or a spectator. The 55th edition of the regatta takes place April 27 through May 3 and has 51 entries already throughout various CSA Classes and the Peters & May Round Antigua Race is building as well.
EARLY PAYMENT DISCOUNT ENDS ON FRIDAY
Entries are on-going until April 27 but keep in mind that if you have already entered, you can take advantage of lowest registration fees at US$13 per ft until Friday January 6. Entry fees will increase to US$15 per ft and the NOR lists all fees including the discounted Club Class.
VIRGIN GETS YOU HERE
If you have entered and are flying in from UK / Europe - please note that our official partner Virgin Atlantic has preferred rates for ASW participants and you can obtain those by contacting them at caribcorporates@fly.virgin.com and letting them know your needs. Currently Virgin website fares departing UK on April 25 and leaving Antigua on May 4 are £593 so don't wait for an inevitable increase in fares to book.
ANTIGUA YACHT CLUB MARINA UPDATE
As you may have heard, The Antigua Yacht Club Marina is fully operational and the docks are buzzing. The marina building platform was transformed in time for the Antigua Yacht Show in Early December and Skullduggery Cafe has been back in operation for few weeks. The Marina team has now moved into phase 2 of the rebuild and any day now new structures will be moved onto the dock to allow Skulldugery and Seabreeze to reopen and ensure the marina returns to being the place for people to meet throughout the day and evening.
DOCKAGE
Whether you prefer the history and charm of Nelson's Dockyard or the bustle of Falmouth Harbour, its always a good idea to secure your dockage early for Antigua Sailing Week. In addition to dockage, the Antigua Yacht Club Marina also manages the moorings around Falmouth Harbour, so reach out to them soonest to secure a spot on anchor. The kind folks at Antigua Slipway & Falmouth Harbour Marina are happy to offer a 10% off dockage for ASW participants at their respective marinas. Visit our website you to view contact information on all of the options available.
