ONE WEEK TO REGGAE IN THE PARK - EARLY BIRDS CONTINUE & TRAFFIC PLANS
Tuesday 23rd April 2019

On this milestone edition of 10 years of Reggae in the Park, organisers have decided everyone should experience what loyal fans of Reggae in the Park have done for the last decade! The Early Bird ticket price for general access at EC$95 per ticket will therefore continue right up to 5pm on the day of the concert on Tuesday, April 30th.

Headline artists Christopher Martin and Junior Kelly will be supported by local talent on the night of the big concert.

The INET Lookout Experience gives exclusive access through the Copper and Lumber and Store Hotel, and premium drinks and food will be available for sale. There will be a viewing platform as well as side stage access. Tickets are available in advance for EC$175.

All tickets can be purchased on the Ticketing App or at Ticketing outlets including Townhouse Megastore, The Source, Steph & Vlada's Studio in jolly Harbour, Island Photo, Northside EZ Grab, Geo’s, and the Antigua Sailing Week Office (English Harbour).

One of the biggest concerns for many residents, partygoers and business owners during the busy Antigua Sailing Week period is the amount of traffic and availability of parking for the events being held in English Harbour.  To that end the Traffic Division of the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda (RPFAB) has been involved in meetings with the event organisers to agree traffic management strategy and safety & security policies for the week.

On all of the big party days there will be restricted parking and on some days Park and Ride will be in place. The general public are asked to comply with all directions given to the police when arriving into the area to ensure a smooth flow of traffic.

Of particular concern are the biggest nights, Friday April 26, Neon Rave and Tuesday April 30, Reggae in the Park both taking place in Nelson’s Dockyard.

Park and Ride operations will be in place at the Falmouth Rectory Grounds and the Falmouth Football Field in Marsh Village for both events.

Sargeant McBurnie of the Traffic Division explains, “Because of the congestion created by the large volume of vehicles and limited parking spaces available in the English Harbour and Nelson’s Dockyard area and to achieve a smooth flow of traffic, the traffic department put this traffic plan in place to assist with the flow of traffic.” He went on to explain, “People have three options for driving into the area; those arriving early will be directed to a number of new parking areas being established in the area as well as single parking on one side of the road only; or park and ride options as above. People arriving into the area via Horsford Hill will be directed into the Rectory Grounds and be-able to pick up park and ride buses from there. Those people who drive through Bethesda and come into the area through Piccadilly will be directed into Marsh Village Football fields. They too will be-able to pick up park and ride buses from there. It is very important the any instructions given by the police are followed.”

Please see the list of affected days in the week.

The general public are advised to consider car-pooling for the evening to assist with reducing congestion and on the heavy traffic events to come early to avoid traffic build up into the area.

Police are also informing the public that no firearms must be taken into the Reggae in the Park show. All firearms must be safely secured in a vault or at a local police station, preferably in the licensees district, before travelling to English Harbour and under no circumstances will firearms be allowed into the venue.
