ST. JOHN'S CATHOLIC SCHOOL RECEIVES 'FACELIFT' Wednesday 12th December 2012
Keeping true to their word, The Rotaract Club of Antigua, Eastern Caribbean Amalgamated Bank and LIME presented the St. John’s Catholic Primary School with a mini facelift as their official prize for winning the Seven Seas Rotaract Spelling Bee back in October of this year.
On Saturday, members of the aforementioned organisations and parents, students and staff of the school turned out in their numbers to brighten the surroundings of the school.
The mini facelift included a new set of picnic benches and umbrellas and the repainting of the three Grade 5 classrooms. The facelift carries an estimated value of $2500.
The prize was officially handed over during a ceremony held on the school grounds this morning with the student body being addressed by Community Service Director of the Rotaract Club Marissa Benjamin and General Manager of the Eastern Caribbean Amalgamated Bank, Henry Hazel. Spelling Bee champ, Tehillah Jackson, accepted the prize on behalf of the school while Deacon Francis of the Roman Catholic Church asked God’s blessings on the newly received gifts.
The Spelling Bee competition is an annual event put on by the Rotaract Club of Antigua in collaboration with Seven Seas Ltd, Eastern Caribbean Amalgamated Bank, Scotiabank and LIME and is open to Grade 5 students of both private and primary schools.
The club encourages schools to continue to be a part of the event since there are numerous opportunities for individual and school development. Click here for all News and Specials for Rotaract Club of Antigua
