EAG'S OFFSHORE ISLANDS CONSERVATION PROJECT WINS "BEST LESSONS LEARNED" AWARD FOR AUGUST 2010 Wednesday 4th August 2010
The purpose of the Offshore Islands Conservation Program (OICP) is to conserve the offshore islands of Antigua and Barbuda, especially the many small coralline islands that fringe Antigua’s northern and eastern coastline, forming an Important Bird Area, Alliance for Zero Extinction site, and a Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF) Key Biodiversity Area. The OICP has recently expanded to include Redonda, a volcanic island 30 miles (48 kilometers) west of Antigua, which is also an Important Bird Area and notable for its threatened endemic herpetofauna.
