EAG FEBRUARY NEWS Wednesday 13th February 2013
Camp GROW Coordinator Needed
The EAG and the Gilbert's Agricultural and Rural Development Centre seek a Coordinator for Camp GROW 2013. Details can be obtained from the EAG Website . Resume and CV should be submitted to admin@gardc.org 15th February, 2013.
February Hike to Ayers Creek
Join the EAG for its February field trip to Wilikies! This trip will take you to areas less travelled...to Gaynors, along Ayers Creek which provides a beautiful vista of Nonsuch Bay, on to Comfort Hall Estate that housed a sugar plantation back in the day. We will also be able to observe a healthy red mangrove area which is being destroyed for road building. Onwards, to areas where shrimp farming and tobacco farming used to be the order of the day.
Meet at 6:45am to push off at 7am on Saturday 16th February, 2013 on the road leading to Wilikies: pass the old Anglican Church (at the turn-off to Seaton’s) and continue past the service station until you get to a sign that reads "Ace Trucking and Heavy Duty Equipment" (approximately 100 metres after the service station), which is where we will meet. This hike will be easy-moderate and will last for approximately 2 hours. Wear good walking shoes and bring water. This trip will get your heart rate up while exposing you to a bit of history and, of course, important areas of our environment. See you there!
