THE 3RD ANNUAL FRANCIS NUNES JR TOURNAMENT AND SEAFOOD FESTIVAL

The 3rd Annual Francis Nunes Jr Sport Fishing Tournament and Seafood Festival is slated for Saturday the 25th of September and is a tribute the contribution Francis Nunes Jr made to sport fishing in Antigua and Barbuda in his lifetime. Event headquarters will be in Nelson’s Dockyard and boats are requested to be docked in the marina for registration by 6 pm on Friday, September 24th with the Captain’s briefing beginning at 6:30 pm sharp! Lines go in the water at 7 am Saturday and come out by 3 pm, with the official weighing-in taking place from 3 to 4:30 Saturday afternoon.
But this is a tournament with a twist! Don’t wait until it’s time for the weigh-in to join in the fun. If you’re not on the water fishing, come and join us for the shore-side celebration of food and family. Grills will be fired up at 2:30 pm and food on offer will include everything from lobster to crab, sushi, carpaccio, fried fish, fungi and seafood rice. And there will be a selection of drinks for everyone – from coffee to rum – including our new sport fishing brew! You won’t go away hungry and you may even want to take some goodies home with you! Don’t worry about too much sun or possible rain – there will be plenty of covered areas for your protection.
The excitement will continue at the prize-giving celebration set for 6:30 pm where prizes will be presented for the largest dolphin, wahoo, kingfish and tuna; best male, female, youth and youngest anglers; and a Champion prize for the most poundage to each of the 25 feet and under and the over 25 feet categories. All fish weighed-in at the end of the tournament will be sold by the Antigua and Barbuda Sport Fishing Club to help cover the costs of the tournament to ensure that it will be a bigger and better success with each passing year!

NEW for this year we are introducing a launch party (remember we usually have one in May, but not September). The team from Lifef have moved to Galleon Beach Bar and Grill and we are moving with them for our 1st September launch party on Saturday 18th September. Tickets will be on sale next week at $EC20 per ticket, all funds go to the running of the event.
