Many people don’t understand what the fishing tournament is all about. Many think of men with red faces, fish scales and yes, fishy smells. Well while that, along with some seriously competitive fishing, is what it is all about, and getting back to the scale to see who caught or tagged and released the biggest ones, for many people it is ALL about the lime.
The launch party really sets the mood for this and this year the party takes place on May 12th at Calabash, in Galleon Beach. The bar and restaurant is in a stunning location, right alongside Galleon Beach (or Freeman’s Bay) and has plenty of space for the 500 party goers to enjoy themselves.
The night stats at 8 pm and dancing continues until you drop. A garden bar will provide a welcome chill out area and a tasty menu including goat water, conch water, jerk pork sandwiches, Indian curry with pappadums and shrimp friend rice will help soak up Cavalier Rum and Carib consumed throughout the night.
New for this year, there are rooms on offer at Galleon Beach Resort for anyone who doesn’t want to make the long (or short) drive home and fancies waking up to breakfast, bloody Mary’s and a swim beachside. Special rates are available for party goers as follows:
Beach Cottages
1 bedroom duplexes - US $96/day
1 bedroom cottages - US $96/day
2 bedroom cottages - US $120/day
Garden Cottages
1 bedroom duplexes - US $87/day
1 bedroom cottages - US $87/day
2 bedroom cottages - US $114/day
Each has separate bedroom(s), bathroom (shower, no bath tub),living/dining and kitchen.
Please note: 1 bedroom cottages sleep 2 persons and 2 bedroom cottages sleep 4 persons (no additional beds or camp beds allowed).
These rates are inclusive of taxes (22.5%), daily maid service and water ferry service to and from Nelson's Dockyard (during daytime hours).
They also have VIP 3 bedroom villas (Babylon & Countess) with pool available at US $550/day.
Rooms are also available at the same rates for the Annual Sport Fishing Tournament taking place from the 25th - 28th May 2012.
