ROBIN MENDES WINS TICKETS TO LONDON FROM VIRGIN ATLANTIC Monday 30th May 2011
Saturday night the launch party of the 45th Antigua and Barbuda Sport Fishing Tournament took place at the Captain’s Quarters, Falmouth. The restaurant belonging to the Catamaran Hotel was transformed into an underwater theme with cool blue and white lighting and fish adorned walls. To the ritual sounds of Chickie the crowd took to the dance floor with gusto despite the heat of the night.
The Sports Fishing famous $EC5 bar, with sponsors’ drinks sold at a great concessionary rate including Carib Beer, Cavalier Rum, and Chivas Regal. In keeping with the blue theme, sponsors Brydens manned a cocktail bar selling Grey Goose Vodka and Bombay Sapphire Gin and the Captain’s Quarters kept a steady flow of barbecue, goat water and conch water coming throughout the night.
The hi-light of the night as ever, is the Sport Fishing Raffle. Fantastic prizes were up for grabs including dinner for two at Le Bistro, Bay House at Tradewinds. Jumby Bay, Coconut Grove, Sugar Ridge Resort and St. James Club Hotel, a family day pass for four people at the Verandah Resort and Spa, a weekend for two at Buccaneer Beach Apartments and a Weekend for two at Curtain Bluff Hotel. Other great prizes came from Colombian Emeralds including a Pearl Necklace and a Stainless Steel and Gold Bracelet, Shades Designer Eyewear who donated three pairs of Maui Jim sunglasses, a Blackberry Pearl and a Blackberry Torch from Lime . Top prize of two return tickets to London on Virgin Atlantic were won by a delighted Robin Mendes.
The crowd was a mixture of young to old, all on the dance floor enjoying the evening together and sets the tone for yet another exciting Fishing Tournament. The Captains’ Briefing takes place on the afternoon of Friday 10th June and this year includes a Used Fishing Gear flea Market. If you are desperate to replace your fishing gear, or interested to get involved and don’t want to overspend, come down from 4pm on Friday afternoon and see what the boats have up for grabs. Two days of sports fishing takes place on the 11th and 12th June with a prize giving that evening, and the new one day Antigua and Barbuda Marlin Classic taking place on Monday 13th June.
