MISS OPTIMIST PETITE 2012 Monday 23rd July 2012
Organisers of the Optimist Club of St. Johns were undoubtedly corrected when they stated that the annual Miss Optimist Petite Competition “brings out the best in youth and highlights their many skills and talents”. Short in stature but big in spirit is four-foot, eleven-year-old Destiny Martin. After an impressive presentation on bullying in schools, the Bolans Primary School scholar won the title of Miss Optimist Petite on Sunday, July 15, 2012.
Sponsored by Bargain Centre, the talented Destiny Martin walked away with all of the major prizes attainable on the night of the show; personality and aspiration segment, performing talent, best interview and the miss photogenic prize. The third runner-up prize went to Annfra Jean-Pierre of Five Islands Primary School. Teniqua Henry won the second runner-up position and Tafari Horsford took the first runner-up position.
This was a night to remember not only was it entertaining but educational. Destiny Martin brought the heat; not only whisking away all of the major prizes but also the hearts and votes of the judges. Now, she reigns victoriously as Miss Optimist Petite.
