Ministry of Creative Industries, Innovation and the Orange Economy commences Carnival Consultations
ST. JOHN’S, Antigua and Barbuda – 10th February 2022 …….The Ministry of Creative Industries, Innovation and the Orange Economy will commence a series of consultations from Friday 11th February with stakeholders involved in the annual summer festival – Antigua Carnival.
The first consultation to be held on Friday 11th February at 5 P.M. at the Multi-Purpose Cultural and Exhibition Centre at Perry Bay, will involve fete promoters who are the drivers of pre-carnival activities in Antigua and Barbuda.
Other consultations will be held during the coming days, to include discussions on T-Shirt Mas, Carnival Monday and Tuesday Mas, Soca and Calypso Monarch and Panorama competitions.
The Ministry of Creative Industries, Innovation and the Orange Economy on Wednesday, presented a proposal to Cabinet for Carnival 2022 which will be discussed during the consultations. Cabinet awaits the results of the consultations to decide on the final schedule for Carnival 2022.
The Ministry of Creative Industries, Innovation and the Orange Economy’s schedule for carnival 2022 includes the staging of T-Shirt Mas, Carnival Monday and Tuesday Mas, Calypso and Soca Monarch and Panorama competitions under conditions that will allow for the safety and health of patrons. Cabinet has not decided on the events schedule.
Carnival 2022 will be held from July 27th to August 2nd with Festival Commission organized pre-carnival events to include T-Shirt Mas, a formal gala celebrating the 80th birthday of Sir McLean “King Short Shirt” Emanuel and a Teen Rave and Car Show competition.
Carnival 2022 will be held under the theme,''Experience Greatness''.
