NESTING GROUNDS FOR VARIOUS SPECIES OF SEA TURTLES Monday 2nd July 2018
The beaches of Antigua and Barbuda are the nesting grounds for various species of sea turtles. These include the Green Sea turtle, Leatherback and Hawksbill turtles. Leatherback nest only on Rendezvous beach. Hawksbill and Green Sea turtles nest on Windward beach, at St James Club, Dieppe Bay, Turtle Bay as well as Rendezvous Bay.
The Sargassum Seaweed that has washed up on the shores of the islands of the Caribbean has imperiled the nests of the Leatherbacks. Their feeding ground is also being damaged due to boats that anchor in the seagrass.
By spreading the word you will help the National Parks Authority increase awareness about the need to protect our beaches and their wildlife.
