ANTIGUA & BARBUDA HUMANE SOCIETY

Antigua's Donkey Sanctuary is part of the Antigua and Barbuda Humane Society. The Sanctuary rescues and houses and cares for abused and injured donkeys, as well as those causing damage to farmers' crops or creating traffic dangers.

 

The care provided to these donkeys by the director and staff of the Sanctuary, whether veterinary, dental, farrier, or nutrition is heartwarming and very much needed on this island which has a large wild donkey population. But Antigua is also plagued with serious droughts which worsen every year, making it very difficult to feed the donkeys. And veterinary bills, as well as other costs in caring for these amazing animals, can mount quickly.
