Q & A WITH INDIGO EVENT SERVICES Tuesday 3rd November 2020
We asked Event and Wedding Organiser Tracy Guererro of Indigo Event Services, what would you say to anyone whose wedding has been cancelled and are wondering what to do and where to get married?
Tracy said ‘Love doesn’t stop because of COVID and your wedding day may be much smaller than planned but it can still be breathtakingly beautiful and memorable for all the right reasons here in Antigua’.
Read more about how Tracy has continued to make couples' dreams come true while ensuring everyone is safe and protocols followed, right here in Antigua.
What has business been like for Indigo over the last few months?
For the past 6 months, things have been very slow on the island and for Indigo Event Services it has been no different but we are happy to say that since the island has opened up we have been receiving inquiries for, and organising, mini and micro weddings plus vow renewals.
We have received training and certification from the Government as ‘Protocols Certified Against COVID 19’ to organise weddings and we ensure that the protocols in place are adhered to protect our guests, our providers and the Indigo team, whilst still ensuring everyone has an enjoyable experience
Where have your couples and inquiries been coming from?
Our couples have come from the UK, US, Europe and as far away as Australia. Some travel alone and others come with close family and/or friends - regardless of the size of the party the team at Indigo give every wedding the same level of care and attention to detail.
Do you know why they choose Antigua?
Many of them have said that Antigua is one of the easiest locations for everyone to get to, whether they are coming from the UK/Europe or the US. Plus the number of cases on the island is low and those that do their research (which is most of them!) have said they have read such positive feedback regarding the Protocols that are in place to protect everyone are good and that the process at the airport is smooth and efficient. All of this goes a long way to making them select Antigua as THE place to say ‘I do’ as they feel they will be as safe as possible
Where do the weddings take place?
The ceremonies we have organised recently have been on our beautiful beaches or within gorgeous tropical gardens and as the bridal parties have been small, we have chosen places that are quiet and away from the busier locations.
Our last bride had her heart set on a totally secluded and deserted beach, with no buildings, no other people, nothing at all other than nature and I am so happy to say we were able to deliver just that. Yes all beaches are public but some are more remote, less accessible than others and you can imagine it’s just you alone in the world. We did have a few boats/yachts come to the beach but when we explained what we were doing and how the couple had had their original wedding cancelled, had not seen each other for months as one was in Oz and the other in the US and how the bride had her heart set on a deserted beach setting, they all understood and left well before the couple arrived and allowed the bride to have her dream day, which was so kind of them
We saw a post saying Indigo can organise a Zoom wedding, what is that?
We are continually thinking out side of the box for ways to make the day special and for friends and family who cannot travel to still take part. So we now offer Zoom weddings, which means there is no limit to the number of guests and the bride can still get ready with her girls and the groom with his boys. Granma can still watch and hear the ceremony and others can still do a reading or sing a song with the couple watching and listening on a large screen, on the beach or in the garden! It maybe different but it’s still special!
We also have other ‘island add ons’ that mean guests can have a taste of paradise and raise a toast with the couple, at the same time. Again, bringing everyone together remotely.
Finally, what would you say to anyone whose wedding has been cancelled and are wondering what to do and where to get married?
Love doesn’t stop because of COVID and your wedding day maybe much smaller than planned but it can still be breathtakingly beautiful and memorable for all the right reasons here in Antigua.
We look forward to discussing your special day soon.
