UNVEILING THE ONE LOVE BENCH AT MT. CARMEL LOOKOUT Tuesday 3rd December 2024
Introducing the One Love Bench at Mt. Carmel Lookout
Antigua, December 3, 2024 – The Rohrman Sports Association is proud to unveil the One Love Bench at the stunning Mt. Carmel Lookout. Offering breathtaking panoramic views of Rendezvous Bay, Signal Hill, Sugar Loaf, Cherry Hill, and more, this special addition to the trail network celebrates love in all its forms—love for nature, love for fitness, love for your hiking group or buddies, and love for that special someone, whether here or gone.
This One Love Bench is the second of its kind, following the installation of the Andre Simon Memorial Bench at Cade Peak Lookout in honor of Rohrman co-founder Andre Simon. Together, these benches serve as enduring symbols of community, resilience, and the shared love for the outdoors.
The realization of the Mt. Carmel bench was a true community effort:
- Aidan McCauley - generously sponsored the project.
- Local artist Michael Hunt - designed and built the masterpiece.
- A dedicated team comprising: Rishi Ramlalack, Jerome Henry, Dayson Brewster, and Rory Butler carried the bench to its breathtaking location.
- Cordova ‘Popoye’ Simon - ensured its secure installation on-site.
- Wayne Henry of H&G Paints - provided the paint and varnish to complete the bench's striking finish.
The Rohrman Sports Association also extends heartfelt gratitude to the Henry family, who graciously allowed the bench to be placed at the Mt. Carmel Lookout, a location that perfectly embodies the beauty and serenity of Antigua’s natural landscape.
The bench will be a highlight of the 15k trail and hike event during the AUA Rohrman Trail Fest scheduled for April 19-20, 2025, but it is open now for everyone to enjoy. Whether you’re celebrating nature, fitness, or the connections we share, the One Love Bench is a must-visit destination.
