DAVID HAUSS TO COMPETE IN ROHRMAN 13K TRAIL RACE

The Rohrman Sports Association is thrilled to announce the participation of renowned French athlete David Hauss in the upcoming Rohrman 13k Trail Race on Sunday, August 25th, 2024. This year's event promises to be exceptional as Hauss, a celebrated triathlete and trail runner, brings his outstanding athletic prowess to the beautiful trails of Antigua.

David Hauss, born in Paris in 1984, has had a distinguished career in triathlon and trail running. As an Olympic triathlete, Hauss competed in the London 2012 Olympics, finishing an impressive fourth in the men's triathlon. Over his career, he has achieved numerous accolades, including multiple podium finishes in World Triathlon Series events and a gold medal at the European Championships.

Transitioning to trail running, Hauss has continued to excel with multiple wins and podium finishes in the UTMB World Series Events. Notably, he won the Trail de Bourbon twice and set a record for the ascent of Piton des Neiges. His victory in the Wildstrubel by UTMB, a prestigious trail running event, further highlights his versatility and endurance.

The Rohrman 13k Trail Race will take participants through Antigua’s lush landscapes, starting at Morris Bay, traversing through Cade Peak and Boggy Peak, and concluding at Ffreyes Beach. Hauss’s presence is expected to draw significant attention to the event, inspiring local athletes and spectators alike.

In addition to David Hauss, the event will also feature the participation of other elite athletes including Aurelien Raphael and Stephane Poulat in the Olympic Distance Triathlon, as well as Benjamin Sanson in the 8k Open Water Swim.

Aurelien Raphael, born in 1988, is a highly accomplished triathlete with a career spanning over 16 years. He has secured seven ITU gold medals between 2006 and 2016 and was the European Junior Champion in 2006 and the Junior World Champion in 2007. Raphael's recent achievements include a bronze medal at the 2021 Arena Games Triathlon in Rotterdam and a victory at the 2022 Arena Games Triathlon in Munich.

Stephane Poulat, another distinguished French triathlete, has consistently performed well in international triathlon events. His career highlights include multiple top finishes in ITU World Cup races and participation in numerous European Championships.

Benjamin Sanson, a seasoned open water swimmer and former French national record holder and youth world champion, has competed in various international events, showcasing his exceptional skills in long-distance swimming. His participation in the 8k Open Water Swim will undoubtedly add excitement to the event.

"Their participation elevates the race and exemplifies the spirit of athleticism and perseverance that the Rohrman stands for."

The Rohrman 13k Trail Race is part of the 10th edition of the AUA Rohrman, a two-day sporting event named after the late Jonathan Rohr. This year is dedicated to the honour of the late Andre Simon, who was a founding member of the event. The weekend will also feature triathlons, a road walk/run, and a swim event, showcasing the diverse athletic talent in the region.

The event is proudly sponsored by the American University of Antigua, The Athlete's Foot, Island Provision, Acqua Panna, Pellegrino, The Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority, Low Pond Cottages, Second Star Sailing, Ticketing, Rocks Group, Energie Antigua, Molihawk House, Doctors Clinic, CG Construction, Antigua VIP Tours, Cole White, SO Ltd, Royalton Antigua, H&G Paints, Good Humans 268, Hurricane Power Athletic Club, Frank Wall Ltd, and Margrie Hunt. The event is also supported by the Royal Police Force of Antigua & Barbuda, ABSAR, St Anthony's Secondary School, the Antigua & Barbuda Triathlon Federation, The National Olympic Committee, the Coast Guard, the EMS and many volunteers.

The event aims to boost sports development and sports tourism in Antigua & Barbuda. This year’s Rohrman will be held on August 24th and 25th, 2024, featuring 10 triathlons on Saturday, August 24th, and a separate 8k swim, 10k road run, and 13k trail race on Sunday, August 25th. All triathlons take place at Ffreyes and all the Sunday races start at Morris Bay and finish at Ffreyes Beach.
