YOUNG FOOTBALL PLAYERS IN ANTIGUA
The Young Warriors Football Club is an official non-profit organization whose mission is to further the amateur sport of football in Antigua.
Established in June 1990 with the objective to fast-track the development of talented players in the All Saints Community Football League (ASCFL).
The project began with a group of players aged between 12 and 18 who were members of the Attackers Juniors team who participated in the annual Gray’s Green Youth Soccer (Shipwreck) League at King George on Saturdays.
It was felt at the time that the ‘seniors’ of the teenagers needed another avenue to aid their development because most of the established teams in the All Saints League were concentrating on winning and were more concerned about bringing in players from other communities to assist their cause. So the idea behind the Young Warriors project was to ensure that there was a breeding ground for the nurturing of boys who were seeking to advance their skills on a higher level.
Among the first group of players were Jair Isaac and Rowan Isaac who went on to attend college in the United States, brother Avery and Kevin Smith, Tracey Allen, Neil Thomas, Nick Fenton and Avery James.
