GILLIAN BRAZIER SHOOT-OUT TO BENEFIT FROM FUTURE STARS SCOUTING Monday 29th April 2013
Although only three (3) overseas teams have to date, confirmed their participation for the 13th Annual Gillian Brazier Basketball Shoot-Out, the participating teams are expected to benefit from the presence of scouts from America Junior Colleges.
The expected teams are: the Sultan Pros-pects of Missisauga, Canada, former GB Champs, Chase Collegiate of Connecticut and Martinique. At least three local teams will make up the fixtures.
According to Acting Director of Sports, Evans (jawaki) Jones and Schools Basketball Coordinator, Carl Knight, this may be the ideal opportunity for the coaches to scout talented girls interested in a college education.
The return of the Future Stars clinic to Antigua, scheduled for June 30—July 7, coincide with the hosting of the 13th Annual Gillian Brazier Shoot-Out.
The team of Junior College Coaches include: Van Coleman who is currently the NationalBasketball Director of theHot100 Hoops & Basketball channel.com Networks, and the Executive Director of
Van Coleman’s Future Stars Basketball Camps for the past 25 years.
Jim Anderson —currently the Director of YOUR World Youth Programs and has been the Director of Business Development & Camp operations Manager for the Future Stars Camp for the past 20 years.
Mike Marquis — the main pillar in the Future Stars organization while coaching basketball for the past 25 years. He has coached close to 100 Division 1 college players including Jimmie Butler of the Chicago Bulls and Joel Anderson of the Miami Heats.
Thom McDonald — currently the Commissioner of the Iowa Community College Athletic Association and Director of Basketball Operations for Championship Productions. He is the Executive Director of the NJCAA Coaches Association.
Kim Muhl — the Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Kirkwood College where he has won over 600 games over 20 years. He is known for his ability to scout and identify top women basketball talent.
Mitch Marquis — an excellent clinician who does a great job of demonstrating the various skills needed to become a college level player.
