Princess Margaret Secondary retained the Coca-Cola Inter-Schools Track & Field Championships on Sunday night, in the Male and Female Divisions, after a grueling three days of competition, March 1—3."
PMS clearly led the two Divisions by at least 40 points over its nearest rivals, Christ the King High School in the girls and St. Joseph’s Academy in the boys.
St. Joseph’s Academy comfortably took the runners– up position and Ottos Comprehensive Third Place.
However, it was in the Girls Division that there was a controversial upset, as Clarehall Secondary was declared runners-up and Christ the King High School as Third Place Finishers.
CKHS sought to gain a recount of the scores but personnel dealing with tallying the points had already left the venue.
Coordinator of Inter-Schools Track & Field, Heather Samuel assured the CKHS officials that a recount of the points will be done, soonest.
Meanwhile, Marketing Manager of the sponsors, Kennedy’sClub Ltd., Neil Cochrane remarked that a Technical Meeting will be held in a week’s time for a postmortem of the Event and how it can be improved upon.
Organizers had hoped that in adding a 3rd day would result in an early finish but that was not to be. Events ran later than 8:00 P.M. on each day. Click here for all News and Specials for CPTSA Wings Sports Club
