CKHS SENDS HOME ISLAND ACADEMY Monday 19th November 2012
Christ the King High School, after three successive defeats in the Inter- schools Football regular league, saved some pride on Thursday afternoon, November 15, at the Mock Pond field, All Saints.
Christ the King High came up against Island Academy in the first round of the Inter-schools Knockout. Island Academy had previously defeated the CKHS in the League and were feeling all confident of putting away their rivals another time.
However, CKHS knowing IA was a team they had beaten, last season, but fumbled against in their last outing with poor defense, found the player they were looking for. Khadija Morris with one of her chances against Island Academy.
Goalkeeping is the key in women’s football and with a strong custodian, the team will play with greater confidence. That was how CKHS felt when they recruited Kayanna Alexander, a 4th form student who had been engaging in basketball.
Alexander’s good coverage of the goal gave the CKHS girls the confidence they needed, and with Khadijah Morris at the front, stuck the net twice for a 2—0 defeat of Island Academy.
It was a splendid relief for the CKHS girls who had been losing several games because of an inadequate goalkeeper.
CKHS will now move into the second round of the Inter-schools Knockout on November 20th. Click here for all News and Specials for CPTSA Wings Sports Club
