The 2012 Basketball season is over and according to the Division 1 Play-off Cham-pions, Hon. Baldwin Braves, on reflection of the program, “it was a very interesting and exciting basketball season.”
Big Banana Express emerged second in the Play-offs and second in the regular season, while Yorks Crushers captured the Division 1 League title.In Division 2, F & G Forwarders Ovals captured the double, League and Play-off titles, while Freetown Travelers finished in Second Place in the regular season and Play-offs.
Bryan (Hollywod) Matthew was awarded the Div.2 League and Play-off MVP. Mario Davis was the Division 1 League MVP, while Vivian Destin, the Play-off MVP. Secretary of the ABFA, Ms. Arlene Josiah, expressed gratitude, on behalf of the President, Mr. Jules Bowen and the whole executive.
Ms. Josiah, said that she must first thank the sponsors, Cool & Smooth, who consis-tently continue to support the ABBA pro-grams, over the years. The other sponsors who supported were, Stag Beer, Sugar Ridge, (imobile) APUA, NOC, American Air-lines, Jolly Beach, and Observer Radio for live broadcasting.
The ABBA Secretary takes the opportunity to congratulate the Winning teams and thank the referees and table officials for “a job well done.” She said the executive members should be commended, especially Mandy Weatherhead for working untiringly, and Spiderman for the upkeep of the JSC Sports Complex.
Ms. Josiah also expresses thanks to Mr. Barrimore (Buntin) Gore for getting the second venue, Ottos Court, ready each night. Coming for high praise were, Carl (Boli) Knight, Kenroy (Big Bird) James, Aldo McCoy, Baldwin (Spliff) Anthony and Eus-tace Samuel from Observer Radio, for the live commentaries of the games. Ms Josiah also extends thank you to JoJo Apparicio for his promotion of the games on his Sports Program.
