UPDATE DAY THREE Tuesday 14th August 2012
With rain delays, the SVG Jr International tournament main draw matches commenced yesterday ( 13 Aug. 2012). Yesterday's draw brought mixed results for team Antigua & Barbuda; Under 18 player D'Jeri Raymond first player on court was ousted from the singles competition after 3 hours of match play. Raymond went down to Amanda Soo Ping Chow (TRI) in three sets 4-6, 6-0, 6-2. Raymon now looks forward for the doubles competition.
Under 14 player Cordell William jr also suffered a loss against veteranTjimon Louisy (LCA) a match which went on for two hours after numerous rain delays. Cordell jr lost 2-6, 3-6.
It was a glorious day for u18 players Jody Maginley and Shakir Elvin who both advance to round 2 with hopes of moving on to the quarterfinals round. Jody Maginley the #4 seed defeated Dominican Jose Olivares in three sets 6-4, 3-6, 6-3. Shakir Elvin took on the Vincentian Kevin Huggins defeating him 6-0, 6-2.
