1ST ANNUAL JAMES DOBBS MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT
Thursday 8th October 2015

Back in September, James Dobbs, one of our great Caribbean sailors passed away. Although originally from Europe, James spent 30 years racing in the Caribbean and involved many other Caribbean sailors along the way on his boat Lost Horizon, and winning many regattas as he went.

To celebrate his life and his contribution to sailing, prolific sailor and peer Bernie Wong decided his passing should be celebrated and is holding the 1st Annual James Dobbs Memorial Tournament this coming Sunday at Nonsuch Bay.

The event involves 27 of the best Antiguan sailors, who will race in teams of three on the RS Elites in a round robin event which will see all teams racing each other throughout the day, and a final round to decide the top three teams. Rum and champagne are up for grabs and serious bragging rights.

Of the event Bernie says ‘I am really pleased that so many sailors are going to be taking part in the day to celebrate a sailor who gave so much to the region and the sport of sailing.’ A buffet lunch is available for both participants and spectators. Please call ahead and book a table if you wish to visit for lunch.
