WADADLI PEN UPDATE Friday 20th March 2020
The Wadadli Youth Pen Prize judging is at its mid-point. The short list is posted and the edited pieces are due back from the short listed writers today for return to the judges. This is in keeping with Wadadli Youth Pen Prize’s mission to nurture and showcase the literary arts in Antigua and Barbuda. This is the nurture part, where our 2020 judging team (local author and publisher Floree Williams Whyte and bookseller and writer, host of the Wadadli Pen Open Mic Glen Toussaint, and from Trinidad and Tobago Bocas award winning poet and artist Danielle Boodoo-Fortune) assist our budding writers with improving their pieces by providing edit notes, much as a professional writer would receive when working with a publisher.
All of the short listed pieces will be posted on the Wadadli Pen website as is the case each year after the awards ceremony. The awards ceremony is to be decided – the Wadadli Pen core team will be considering safest options in light of current circumstances with the COVID-19 pandemic. We do want to ensure that we reward our winning writers and are thankful to all of our pledged 2020 patrons with whom we will be following up once the second round of judging is completed. Thanks, as always for assisting us with keeping the public informed. You are invited to share the short list with your readership if you think there would be interest.
Best,
Joanne
