GREEN ENTERPRISES FOR YOUNG ENTREPRENEURS Thursday 9th August 2012
The United Nations Development Program and the Young Americas Business Trust (YABT) are pleased to announce the Business Labs for Young People focused on Green Enterprises. These Business Lab sessions will be held at the Department of Youth Affairs Headquarters on Prime Minister’s Drive, from 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.
This unique opportunity will permit young people to discuss the multiples opportunities that green enterprises are representing for young people who want to start a business that contributes to sustainable development. The "hands-on" labs will be based on experiential learning exercises using methods to motivate learning, stimulate action and understand entrepreneurships through experiences. The course will offer technical skills and advice in business planning, marketing, branding and evaluation of potential leads.
The Business Labs are part of the UNDP project: Youth-Innovation (Youth-IN): A Caribbean network for youth development which promotes youth INclusion, youth INnovation, youth INterest and youth INvolvement. This workshop will be conducted with support of national and international partners such as the Israeli Government Aid Agency MASHAV, the Antigua and Barbuda Development Bank, the OAS and others.
During the Business Lab, participants will address the challenges of business creation and will develop skills to create green enterprises and ventures to preserve the fragile diversity of their communities and theirs nations.
The training will focus on a sustainable means to preserve diversity while providing guidance and support to generate viable and creative ideas in green industries. Young people will be ineligible afterward to participate to the Caribbean Innovation Challenge, a regional competition to promote innovation, entrepreneurial initiatives and providing follow up resources for young people in the Caribbean.
