FIFA WORLD CUP TROPHY TOUR COMES TO A & BFriday 11th October 2013
For the 2014 FIFA World Cup, Coca Cola is creating the world’s most inclusive, participatory experiential event ever. The FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour by Coca Cola will give more than one million people across the world the chance to experience the FIFA World Cup Trophy in their own communities. Antigua included, the FIFA World Cup Trophy will arrive in St. John’s on October 17th.
This will be the largest and longest global tour of the FIFA World Cup Trophy by Coca Cola, visiting more countries than ever during its nine-month journey, a total of 89 with events in 39 countries across the region that is home to the host nation, Brazil. The tour will also be visiting 50 new countries that have never had the opportunity to host the trophy before.
The FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour by Coca Cola is an exhibition of the real, one–of-a-kind, solid gold FIFA World Cup Trophy.
The tour officially start in Brazil on September 12th and will first international stop there, Fiji and Vanuatu and Tahiti tour in the South Pacific to get to Costa Rica on September 24th as the first point of his appointment in the Americas.
In Antigua, local distributors of Coca Cola Kennedy’s Club Ltd has teamed up with the Antigua Barbuda Football Association, and the Ministries of Education, Sports and Youth Affairs and The Ministry of Tourism and Culture to put together what is expected to be a grand affair. Head of the local planning committee and Senior Executive at Kennedy’s Mr. Glentis Goodwin indicated that the day’s proceedings would start with the arrival of the FIFA World Cup Trophy and Officials at the V C Bird International Airport where a private viewing and brief ceremony at the VIP Lounge will take place.
The proceedings will then move to the Blue Waters Hotel where the final viewing of the FIFA World Cup Trophy will take place along with a cocktail and cultural entertainment and a brief closing ceremony to end the day’s activities.
The tour continues through Central America and the Caribbean to November 7 and from there will travel to Africa, Middle East, Asia, South and North America and Europe, to return to Brazil in late April 2014, in time for the start of the FIFA World Cup.
The Coca-Cola Company has had a long-standing relationship with FIFA since 1974 and has been an official sponsor of the FIFA World Cup since 1978. Coca- Cola is a long-time supporter of football at all levels. This is the third time that Coca-cola and FIFA have come together to bring the Trophy Tour to the World, Starting in 2006 and then again in 2010.
